The righteous cry out and the LORD hears them (Psalm 34:17)
It is obvious that so many believers are growing weary in these dark days of oppression that we live. Struggles surround us at every corner and it is hard to stave off the growing fears of uncertainty. We were told in Scripture that these times would come and test the faithful, but how do we keep standing when the ground is trembling and darkness is filling the sky?
Fear is a tool that the enemy uses to take your focus from the truth. When you understand that your hope in Christ is secure, you can cease striving. There is nothing that is going to destroy a believer who is holding onto the promises that Jesus died to give. Your future is never determined by your circumstance. Trials that you face are only the wind that brings you closer to God. Every single one of your struggles are used by God to equip you for the battles that come against you.
Throughout the bible, God allowed his people to be taken to the end of their own strength but yet they were conquerors over all that came against them. It was in the lion’s den that Daniel watched as his God shut the mouths of the lions and brought him safely out. The three Jewish boys were bound and thrown into the furnace for refusing to bow in worship to Nebuchadnezzar.(Daniel 3) Yet it was there that they came face to face with the Son of God who protected them from even the smell of fire and smoke. Young David ran against the giant, Goliath, in the power of the God in whom he trusted. He never doubted that his God could save him as he killed that heathen Philistine with just a stone. King Hezekiah cried out to his God for help when the Assyrian army was surrounding his people on all sides. He had no power to face this mighty army but his God did! We are told in 2 Kings 19:35, ” That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand men in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning – there were all dead bodies!” It was God who fought their battle and saved them. You need to understand clearly that when you are in Christ, you are a force to be reckoned with!
Beloved, you must understand that no battle you ever face is hopeless. You don’t need to run from your problems; you just need to turn to your God! Never lose faith when you get to the end of your ability for it is at that point that you discover the all-encompassing power of God. Jesus paid the price for our redemption and to give us a future with hope. The enemy may prowl around trying to rob you of your joy but he can never steal the future that Christ paid with his blood. Death has no sting for Jesus overcame the grave. All of your momentary trials are working out a divine purpose to prepare you for the royalty that awaits you in eternity. Your painful situation has a time to end. God knows how to take you from your distress and into his peace if you will just surrender to him.
We are living in a time like no other. We are watching as wars, famines, floods, severe weather, poverty, sickness of all kinds of evil are permeating this entire world. The hearts of many have grown cold as marriages are failing, evil and violence are increasing and all forms of perversions are becoming common. The only hope we have is the enduring love of Christ who will never fail. He is called Faithful and True and he is ready to return and gather those who love him.
May you know this day that you are never out of God’s sight for a second. Whatever you are suffering is before the eyes of God. Remember, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”. (Psalm 34:18)
Dear Lord, I am praying for those who are struggling with a painful situation in their lives. They feel like they are losing in the battle that they face. I pray for your peace and strength to fill them. Let them know without a doubt that you are with them to the end. For those who have financial problems – may you meet them and provide for what they need. Those who have marriage and relationship problems – may you join them in peace and restore their families. I pray for you to heal the pain of those who are sick or who have lost a loved one. May you comfort and heal those who are in serious bondage to alcohol or drugs. I pray for your favor in their lives in all that they need. And may they know that you will not fail them no matter how impossible their problem is to them. Amen.

Great words to live by Marianne. There are none among us that doesn’t faint at sometime during our walk with the Lord. It is at those times that we begin to question our eternal security with Jesus. I know from experience that he remains true to his promise, “LO, I AM WITH YOU ALWAY, EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE WORLD.” Jesus will remain faithfully beside us in our trials and even in our doubts and fears. When we come to the point that we decide to press on, he will lift us to our feet and go forward from where we have fallen. He doesn’t even require us to go back to square one and start over. This is what makes him “WONDERFUL, COUNSLELOR.” Paul told Timothy “IT IS A FAITHFUL SAYING; FOR IF WE BE DEAD WITH HIM, WE SHALL ALSO LIVE WITH HIM. IF WE SUFFER, WE SHALL ALSO REIGN WITH HIM. IF WE DENY HIM, HE ALSO WILL DENY US; IF WE BELIEVE NOT, YET HE ABIDETH FAITHFUL; HE CANNOT DENY HIMSELF.” It really doesn’t matter if we believe that he will be with us or not; if for no other reason, he will be with us just because that he said he would. Sometimes we have to reassure ourselves that he promised to be with us, but we will never, never, never, have to remind him!

So right, Rev. York! It is awesome that God’s help doesn’t depend on me! In my weakness, he is strong. For someone like me, that was difficult to understand. I always felt the need to work for all that I got because I didn’t feel worthy of anything good to just be given me. I had the worst time believing that God could love me just as I am and use me for his kingdom despite my failures and weakness.
Thanks for the reminders for me that God is with me whether I fail or succeed and he is not keeping score! He is with me always because that is his promise and his love knows no limit. I can fall and get up because God’s power is always with me. I work on trusting this truth everyday! It helps to have friends like you to encourage me. Thanks Rev. York!

Hi Cindy, sorry that you were sick! I do hope you make the concert!
Sometimes when we are sick and weak, it is hard to remember that God is still with us and working all things out for our good – but he is! We just need to remember that no sickness, pain, struggle or evil force is going to stop God’s perfect plan for us. I sure hope you are feeling better, Cindy. Maybe God is going to give you a fresh word to write! I will be watching. Take care, my friend.

Marianne,
I want to say that I so appreciate your comments on “Converted to Christ…”. I’m so afraid that, due to perceived injustices or human failure, many that were once part of the localized church now feel the need to lash out at it as if it is the problem. Certainly there are issues that we all recognize but, in the end, it is not Christ’s church but people that are the problem. Yet, when we attack His church, no matter what the issue, we in essence attack ourselves…for we, as part of the body and bride of Christ, are condemning ourselves. I try to empahsize what I see as true and positive in somone’s sincere efforts at stating how they believe God is speaking (while often ignoring what a strongly disagree with) to them so I’m glad that someone like you with a more prophetic calling is willing to lovingly share your disagreements with such caustic diatribes.
I have many friends that now see attacking the church as their mission and I’m saddened by that. I too am involved in a genuine, loving community of believers and, depsite it’s shortcomings, I believe God is using it to advance His kingdom and make me more like Jesus.
Thanks again! You were completely on target and I wish I had been more bold!

Thank you, Linden. I appreciate what you said. I do see the side that was portrayed in that article. I guess I just believe that God’s purpose for us gathering together still has great merit. I have seen too many people fall back somewhat into the world when they leave the church system. It is much easier. I believe there is a balance. I am not confined by the church I attend. I see the purpose for the organized congregation and I am grateful for it. I also see that many people just live for that certain church they attend. That isn’t good. You lose your own spiritual identity when you do that. My eyes are on Christ and what he calls me to do. I don’t need a certain church body to tell me what I should be hearing from my own relationship to my Lord. But I do think that belonging to a church is a guidance check in my life and it enables me to reach out to the needs of my brothers and sisters there who are in need. We all need each other.
Thanks as always for your encouragement, Linden. You are a blessing in my life.

Good evening. It’s been a while since I was last here and what an encouraging post to come across upon returning.salm 46:10 comes to mind as I read this. One of the real concerns of the moment is that many are not abiding in a place spiritually where they can weather the storms coming over the horizon. It’s as though many will verbally agree that time is running out, but one can tell that there’s a lack of authentic urgency. We must, with all diligence, abide close in to the Lord Jesus and remember that regardless of what transpires in this realm, it;s only for a season. Avery short season wherein the trial of our faith is deemed more precious than fine gold.
The age to come will be so unimaginable incredible that all of the trials, heartache, dissapointment, lonely nights, and what have you, will seem as nothing. For about three week, the words “this night won’t last forever” have been entering into my cogitations. I think that it may be the title of a song from a few decades ago. These words, regardless of their origin, are true.
Thanks again for a very encouraging post. Blessings always in Jesus name.

Hi timbob!! I am so pleased to hear from you again. It is always an honor when you visit!
You mentioned, ” Be still and know that I am God”, (psalm 46:10) and that is so right on. We can only rest and be still in God’s peace when we get to the end of ourselves and understand that he is all that we need! I agree with you that many are not understanding the seriousness of the times and are not drawing near to God. They will be left standing unaware when the time comes for Christ to call his church to be with him. I believe that all indications are that we are so near to this time that it takes my breath away to know that soon I will be with my Lord!
While I wait for the blessed hope of Christ return, I will strive to crucify any ounce of flesh that still keeps me from total surrender to God.
Thanks for commenting, timbob. You are always welcome here!

Hi Renz, it is so good to hear from you again! I am so glad you like the article because it is the truth. Everything I write about comes from my own trials that God has taken me through.
I know you also have a lot of struggles, Renz, and the pressures can be overwhelming for you at times. But the fact is that everything is working out a purpose designed to make you stronger and give you a greater knowledge of the God you serve. You are not going to ever be defeated so hang on when life gets really tough. Soon you will see the power of Christ manifested in your own life. There is a purpose for the hope you have. Stay in the word so you know how to fight against the enemy’s lies to you. Christ has overcome the world. Nothing you face is out of his power to help.
God bless you, dear friend, and stay in peace!

How blessed and encouraging it is to realise that you are not alone going through a certain situation and neither are you the first one to go through it.. Am encouraging christians wherever you may be that let’s continue praying for each other that we overcome the devil, especially in these last days. May we not go weary to pray for one other as well as praying for those that do not know God. You may not know how far your single prayer can go. Since I discovered this site,I ever want to be on it and always thanking God for your life in mine. Through you Marriane God is touching our lives. I love you Sis and may God bless you in abundance.

Rebecca, your encouragement means so much to me! God bless you for being so kind. And how right you are that we must pray for each other in these dark last days! Once you come to my site, I am commited to pray for you and I will. A single prayer of Moses saved millions of Israelites from the wrath of God. If only we realized the eternal impact of our prayers, we would continually be on our face to God.
I am also glad that you know that you are not alone in whatever struggle you face. God is not only with you in your circumstance, but he has put other people as me in your path to help you through prayer. God never leaves you alone to face your battle.
I am always grateful for the wonderful friends that God gives me here! Stay in peace, Rebecca, for God’s plan will not fail you!

Thank you for sharing, reminding the body that Jesus is our unfailing hope. I find myself in battle for my marriage, have battled for my mind, & at the end of myself. Brokenness. I’ve questioned many times if I’ve come to the end of self, & what an encouragement your words are as they remind me that it is at this point when we realize that God is all we need. Praise Him! God can’t fix it if it ain’t broke. I pray in agreement & lift up the words of your prayer to the same, mighty God.

But you have an unfailing hope in Jesus Christ. When you turn your struggles and pain over to him, you allow his power to work in you. I am here for you, my friend. I will be praying for you. Hi Monday, The good thing about your troubles is that when you turn them over to Christ and trust him with them, you don’t have to see the way out. By faith, you know that all that matters is that HE knows the way out and he has the power to help you. I am praying for you, dear friend. Whatever your struggle is, there is an answer. Please read your bible each morning and let God’s truth and strength fill you will hope. He is not going to fail those who belong to him. He won’t leave you alone. You have reason to hope so stay in peace. He sees where you are.

Nearly eight years after you wrote this, all of this remains very timely Marianne. “The hearts of many have gone cold…” – how true this is and can be in our own lives as well, if we are not careful. “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.” (Hebrews 3:12)
Thanks for sharing this Marianne. I can always count on your blog for a timely and encouraging word. God bless!

Hi Joe, One thing I have found out is that God’s word is always timely. When I wrote this article I was struggling but I had no idea that the next seven years were really going to bring me to my knees and test my faith to the limit. I am at the end of myself. I can go nowhere and do nothing unless Christ and his power are with me. And actually, as my trials increase, so does my faith. It is a good place to be. I don’t want to face God one day and say “I almost trusted you”. I want to stand and say to Christ, “Because of your strength, I stayed in the race and believed you even when I couldn’t see the end of my struggle”. None of us can do that alone but then we don’t have to. We were never meant to carry our burdens alone. I hope you have that truth etched in your heart also, Joe.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and encourage me. You are in my prayers. Stay in peace.
