Believers are set apart for Christ and the work of his kingdom. We have been made holy because the Spirit of God lives and works in us to do good. We have been made righteous. Why is it then that God continues to allow painful trials and distractions in our lives? Wouldn’t it be easier to do his work if he could make our path clear of the same suffering the perishing world endures?
That is something I have thought about many times. I have seen Godly men and women work tirelessly to help bring the lost to Christ only to watch as they suffered hardship and sickness unto death. Persecution of Christians is increasing and believers are being tortured and killed every day. It just doesn’t seem fair. And yet, Scripture tells us that God must allow anything that happens in the life of a believer. In Psalm 84, we are told that “No good does God withhold from those whose lives are righteous”. All those who are in Christ have been made righteous by his blood. So why then is it good that his people suffer?
My friends, I write this message to give hope to those who are facing a battle in life and struggle to believe that Christ is still with them. The enduring love of God never leaves you for a moment in the midst of your trial. He sees your pain and counts your tears. Your cries for help are being heard. He has not forgotten you. He knows how to heal your breaking heart. He can and will make you whole. But, do you trust him enough to let him do it his way and in his timing? It is not easy to hold on in the battle, but to do anything less would be to surrender to the enemy. Don’t sell yourself short. God is sovereign over all. His plan for your life was perfected long before the foundation of the earth. You were bought at a price. He is not going to let you fail after taking you this far.
Every believer in Scripture had to suffer pain and hardship in their walk of faith. They had to trust that God was always with them even through their greatest fears.
In Genesis, Joseph had to endure over 10 years of bondage in a prison which had no light. He had shackles on his neck and feet night and day. And yet he had to trust that his God was still in control. For all those years, he had to wait on God who was preparing him to be the top Commander in the army of Pharaoh. He had no idea God was making him ready for such royalty. He was a young man when he went into prison and for years he mourned the memory of his family. Why did God allow him to withstand such a test? It was because God’s plans for Joseph were greater than any ideas Joseph had for his life. He had to be molded and shaped into the man of God who had the faith needed to do his will. God was going to use him in a mighty way.
And God had a plan. The royal robes that Joseph wore as ruler in Pharaoh’s kingdom were like rags compared to the robes of glory awaiting Joseph when he died.
When Jesus told his disciples what they would have to do to follow him, many of them grumbled and left. Jesus turned to his Apostles and asked them if they were going to leave also. Peter said to Jesus,
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”(John 6:68) Peter was exactly right. Those who stayed with Christ trusted that he was greater than their doubts.
No matter what black cloud is filling your life, there is no one greater than the God who gave you life and who has the power to cause every second of your pain to be used for your good and for his glory. Even if you don’t see God’s hand in your struggle now, you need to know that he is in full control of all that you face. You don’t have to see or feel God to know that he loves you enough to do what is good for you. Let him finish the work he started in you. Don’t doubt him. Those disciples who walked away from Christ had no idea they were leaving their only source of hope in this world. They left the One who could give them everlasting life.
Your situation is timed. Your pain is being monitored. And you are not going to drown in your tears. Christ has a way to take you through your fears and pain. He grieves with you in your trouble. He has a reason for you to face this mountain.
My friends, we are too close to the coming of Christ to give up now and walk away. Cling to the truth. Let your faith be proven genuine. Keep your eyes on Christ. He will never fail you. Even when things are not done your way, trust him with your life! He gave his life for you.
Who can take from you what Christ has died to give you?
I am praying for all who need to believe that Christ is with them in their pain. If you are struggling with your faith, I am praying that you will have the strength to surrender your doubt to Christ and ask for his strength to believe. May you know that He loves you more than you could ever know. He has promised to never leave you, not ever, no matter what you are going through. God is close to the brokenhearted. His word is true. He is with you now. Let him work this out but trust him with the details. Your faith shows the world that you belong to Christ. May God give you his peace and may you know that you are not alone.

I appreciate the words of your message as I face a terminal disease. I understand I eventually have to leave this body.
I realize I’m not actually dying but I’m changing my address and will get my new body.
THIS is not my life–it’s a trial run.
The NEXT life is the real one!

Hi Rohn,
This life is a trial run. You may be facing a terminal disease but in the end, God has timed your days not the disease. I am praying for you, my friend. Your words of faith has bolstered my own faith and I thank you for that. Believers are aliens in this perishing world. We don’t fit in for we belong to a kingdom that will never end. Soon Christ is going to return. The convergence of all the signs is showing just how close he is. And like you, I am looking forward to that place of glory which will never end.
My friend, I am here for you if you ever want to talk. Email me at mbernard4477@gmail.com and we can talk privately. You have nothing to fear for God is in control of your life and everything in it. You are still here for a reason. Keep fighting the good fight. I am praying for you.

Hi Virginia,
I appreciate your encouragement. What a nice thing to say. With God’s help, I will write all that he sends to my heart. Sometimes I overflow with his word and I want to share it. I will keep seeking his voice and write as he gives me his truth. I pray this message helped you. God has your life all worked out already even if you are facing battles of every kind. They have already been declared victorious because a child of God cannot lose. Stay strong, my friend. All that we face in this life must obey God’s will. He is with us in everything. Never forget that. God bless you, my sister.

Hi Faith, my dear sister, my heart is with you! I can see how much you are hurting. God has not turned his back on you, my friend! You have no idea how much he loves you. And as alone as you feel, the truth is that Christ is with you. I know you don’t feel him but he is there right now. The darkness of your situation is not dark to him. He not only can see clearly what you are going through, he has a plan ready to help you completely. He knows your name, my sister. He sees your tears. He is not going to have you fight this battle alone. If you could see with spiritual eyes wide open, you would see the army of the living God surrounding you at this moment. That is his promise! You are weary right now and it is hard to focus on this truth but I pray you will. Faith, I am going to be praying for you each day. I care. I know what is like to feel abandoned and overwhelmed. I also know the power of the God who is in complete control over ALL things. If you belong to Christ, you cannot be taken from him.
My sister, I know it is hard right now but please keep reading your bible to get the strength of God through his word. He will guide you. He will give you the hope you need to hold on, and he will give you his peace you need to wait for his plan in your life to work out. You can’t lose, my friend. You cannot be destroyed.
I am here if you want to talk privately. Please email me at mbernard4477@gmail.com. The bible tells us that “Weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning”. (Psalm 30:5) I remember asking God how long before that morning comes? But I knew in my heart that it would come. God has big plans for you, Faith. This struggle will not always be with you. And I am here to talk to. I am praying for you. Just hold on and have faith. Christ will do the rest.

I have to comment,. I have had dystonia for 30 years now. I was bedridden, then in a wheel chair & a walker. They say hindsight is always 20/20 & I can see how He used me during those times. I felt useless & prayed that He would give me some way to serve him & He did. Then Marianne came into my life & saw something in me that no one else saw. She let me sit with her dad & her animals. It was such a blessing to feel like someone believed in me. I will ever be greatful to Marianne for taking the chance that opened a whole new world to me. It was God working through us both. I would love to say I am healed but I am not but that is ok because God is using me in many ways. I love the song by Matthew West Strong Enough It puts my life in perspective. When I am weak then He is strong. ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
thank you my dear friend I love you more than I can express.

Little did I know that God was going to use you to be one of the best and dearest friends in my life and someone who has helped me in more ways than I can count. You are a blessing to me, my friend. I have watched you struggle with your health issue and yet always make the time to reach out and help others. You are amazing and it is such a testimony to the power of God in your life. You never let your difficulties stop your work. I don’t know what I would have done without you in my life. You are a friend and a sister and I thank God for you.

Dear Marianne,
I cannot tell you how deeply your message on “Why God Allows Your Pain” has touched my heart and soul. I am a 70 year old pastor heading into my 6th surgery to save my right leg. I have suffered many losses over the past year including my “hero” dad’s passing last month. I also was “let go” from my Care Pastor position at the church my wife and l founded 36 years ago because I could not contribute as I once did. This has been so hurtful.
Your message has brought needed tears of renewed hope.
Thank you precious sister in Jesus our Savior…

Hi Pastor Ted, my dear friend and brother, it grieves me that you have been through such trials. I can only imagine your pain. Pastor, you have been called to bring God’s word to the lost. That does not end because you were released from your position at church. My brother, I can only believe that God has much bigger plans for your life. The pain you endured is preparing your faith to do a greater work for him. Your losses are actually your gain. God only takes from us to give us more of Him. I know that you understand that, Pastor. We are a members of a royal heritage in Christ. We cannot lose and no one can take from us the future that Christ planned in advance for us. Not even the gates of hell can rise up against a true child of God and win. We can suffer but we cannot be destroyed. We can only be made stronger through every battle Christ allows us to face. The reason we can have joy in the midst of our suffering is that we can’t lose! We are conquerors in every form of the word. Your hope is justified, my brother. Christ is interceding before the Father for you even now. Legions of angels are guiding your steps. The surgery you need for your leg has already been decided by Christ and the success of it is in his hands. He alone knows what he wants you to glean from what you are going through.
Pastor Ted, I want you to know that I will be praying for you each day. I take seriously the people God sends to me to pray for. You sound like a true man of God, Pastor. It is my honor to pray for you and your family. May God show you that these words are indeed from his heart to yours. I am simply his servant. Be in peace, my friend, your God is with you. God bless you.

Hi David, yes we need reminders that God is in control of our lives. Real victory comes from praising our God even in the middle of our battles. That is what sets us apart from the unbelievers. His eye is on us at all times whether you feel it or not. He is working out his plan. His ways are always good. Just ask Christ to give you the strength to hold on in faith when you are feeling overwhelmed and weary. He will help. In the end, he is going to work the situation out for our good. How can we doubt him when he has proven himself to be true over and over. It is not easy when we are going through the trial. I know for I am going through one now. But you can have God’s peace if you surrender this struggle to him and trust him.
Thanks for stopping and commenting, David. Be blessed. I will be praying for you.

Hi Sonia, my heart and prayers are with you even now. We have all been through struggles in this world and sometimes it makes us feel alone. The truth is that we are NOT alone nor will we ever be. We have a living hope in Jesus Christ who has said that he intercededes for us each day to the Father. He knows where you are and he is with you. He sees your pain and he knows the purpose for it and will work it all out for your good and for God’s glory if your trust is in him.
My sister, I pray that you read your bible daily and let his word give you the strength and guidance to face your battles. He will speak to you through his word and you will know with certainty that he is with you! I am praying for you now and I will continue to pray for you each day. I care. I have been in similar situations and know how painful it can be. Sonia, you are not helpless nor are you hopeless. You have a very real promise in Christ that if you can believe, he will take you through this struggle and make you stronger for having gone through it.
Know that you can email me anytime you need to talk at mbernard4477@gmail.com. I always have time for a friend. May God give you his strength and his peace as he takes you through this time of loneliness and pain. May he draw you near to him so that you understand that he is in complete control of all that you face. May your faith increase and you keep your eyes on Christ and let his truth fill you. Take joy, my sister, God is with you and he will not fail you. You are loved more than you know.

Hi Rachael, I really appreciate you taking the time to write. Dear sister, I pray you fully understand the depth of God’s love for you. No matter where you are, his hand is guiding you. He is not going to let you be destroyed by the attacks of this world. He is with you and will never leave you. Your challenges are in fact the tools Christ uses to mold you into something even better. He has plans for your life, my sister. He will not leave you to fight your battles alone. He is there now. Be blessed and stay in peace. Read your bible and let the truth of God’s promises give you hope and guidance. I am now praying for you, Rachael. God has a great plan for your life no matter what storms you face. He is there and he is protecting you. Romans 12:12 tells us “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer“. Memorize that verse, my friend. It should be your prayer each morning.
