Hope deferred makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12)
We are told in Scripture that we are not to lose hope in times of trial. We are to have faith and trust that God has everything under his control. To have true faith, you must take God at his word. In 2 Corinthians 4:18 we read that “We look to things that are not seen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal”. Why is that so hard to do when we face pain and struggles that that seem to crush our heart?
I have often wondered why I can trust God with my eternal salvation but yet struggle to trust him in the daily storms of uncertainty. The word of God is abundantly clear that Christ has our future in his hands. Long before we were born, his eyes saw our unformed substance and he numbered our days to align with his perfect plan long before one of them came to be. No believer dies too young. It is all divinely timed. So what is to fear?
The answer to that is there is nothing to fear but what you allow yourself to believe. Your life is in God’s hands, not the devil’s and not the world’s. The eye of God never leaves you for an instant. Even Job understood this truth. He never doubted that God was with him, he just couldn’t understand why God was allowing him to suffer. He got to the point where he wished he was never born alive. I must admit that there were times I felt like Job but I refused to give up. God has shown me love and mercy when I didn’t deserve it. Surrendering to the lies of the enemy was never an option. Christ has promised the crown of life to those who remain steadfast under trial. The disciple James tells us in verse 1 of his letter, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness…..that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing“.
Now joy might not be easy for you to consider in your times of pain but, by faith, you must trust that God has a purpose for it and that he has promised to use all things for your good according to his purpose for you. To believe anything less is to believe the lie of an enemy who wants you to give up.
My friends, the days are growing shorter and the attacks from the devil will increase. You may be facing unbearable pain and suffering now, but my prayer is that you will hold on in hope. The Apostle Paul endured hardship, pain, and suffering to the point of death, but he considered it worth the cost of knowing Christ and his righteousness. There is nothing greater than knowing that your struggles are bringing you to the point in life for which God has purposed for you. Every pain and hardship is bringing you deeper into the knowledge of Christ. He is revealing more of himself to you.
The power that raised Christ from the dead and that calmed the sea is living in the heart of every believer. He knows what he is doing even when you don’t understand his ways. He will never abandon you in your heartache. He is close enough to you to see your tears. He keeps them in a bottle that is next to his heart. You are never alone to fight your battles when you belong to Christ. Most importantly, you can’t be destroyed by your pain no matter how hurtful it seems now.
Can you wait on Christ? Will you trust him to the end? No matter how big your problems are, they cannot stop the future for which Christ died to give you. Your pain will not last forever. His love for you will not fail. Ask God to give you the strength you need to trust him with all that comes against you. He is faithful to guide you to the end. That’s a promise!

The trials I have been enduring for the past couple of years seem to be not coming to an end. Everyday is becoming a struggle as it gets worst and I felt like God is not listening to my cries of help. I’ve gotten to the point this day that the thought of suicide which the devil has been whispering to me might be a better choice instead of continuing with my life. I lost everything in a span of 5 years, the businesses, relationships, respect, family etc. Like Job, I felt like God is not answering my cries for help. I can’t remember subscribing to your blog but here it is and praise God for sending me this email as I believe this is God’s way of telling me that I was wrong, that He always listens and He is in control. I prayed for forgiveness for the negative thoughts that I have been entertaining and for Him to strengthen my faith and resolve to continue waiting for God’s deliverance.

This article is filled with truth from God’s word that we need to constantly be reminded of. We may struggle sometimes but God always gives us what we need when we need it most. It may not always be what we want but he has always been faithful in every situation. Trials last longer than what we want sometimes and longer than we think we can take but it’s never one day more than He has allowed.
Sometimes we underestimate His presence in the trial even if we are not always conscience of His presence, we know He is faithful to be there.
Thank you for the reminder Marianne

Hi Rocco, It is so true what you said that God has always been faithful to us and we must trust him when life’s storms surpass our understanding of why he allows them. There is a divine, deliberate reason for everything God allows in our life. Our peace comes in trusting that truth.
Thanks for your comment, Rocco.

Gaudi, my dear friend, I am so glad that God brought you here to my site. I will keep you in prayer. All that lost in the course of the past five years was allowed by God for a purpose that will bring you even more blessings. I know it is not an easy time but your pain is ever before the eyes of God and he knows where he is taking you. He won’t let your struggles destroy you as long as you keep your faith in him. I will be praying for you to stand strong and believe that God is in complete control. I also have gone through a series of storms over the past 3 years. I did not understand why God would allow it but I stayed in his word and was encouraged that he had not forsaken me. He has a greater plan for my life and for your life than you have for yourself. He is with you, Gaudi. We are so close to his coming. The attacks are getting stronger but Christ is stronger still. The devil wants you to give up because he knows you are weary. He also knows that God has a great plan for you in spite of how it seems now.
Please know that I am here to talk to when you feel overwhelmed. Just email me at mbernard4477@gmail.com God never expects us to carry our burdens alone. I am joining with you in prayer for God to give you rest in this battle and strength to believe. God will give you beauty for ashes. He can restore you. Just hold on and stay in the word. You can’t lose.

Anonymous, If you belong to Christ, your trials are allowed by God but also monitored and timed for perfection. You are being blessed although it may not seem like it now. I will continue to pray for you and hope that you will stand strong in your faith. My friend, never was there a more important time to stay strong than in these dark days of evil. God sees you. You are not overlooked nor ever will you be forgotten. Your struggle is the wind that is taking you closer to the face of Christ. Please know that you are never alone. Prayers are being said for you. There is always hope and always victory in Christ. I pray you understand that God’s love for you covers everything you go through! Overwhelming circumstances will never be bigger than your God! And I am here if you need to talk. May God bless you.

God bless you, also, Robert. My brother, I will keep you in prayer, as II do all who visit my site. Keep reading your bible to get the strength and guidance that you need in these days of darkness Remember that the light of Christ always shines brightly to guide those who belong to Him. All of our ways are always before him and he understands our needs even before we speak them. As evil increases, it reminds us of the truth that Christ will be coming soon to make all things new. Have no fear, dear brother. God’s plan is always more powerful than anything that comes against us. Thank you for taking the time to stop and comment.

Wow!!!! I don’t normally read spiritual written word. Even when I claim to be a Christian myself and belong to an organized religion. This is exactly what I needed right now!
Thank you for sharing!!!!

Hi Amber, I am so glad you stopped to comment. God has touched your heart with the words he gave me to write. I always pray that he will send those who need to read the message that he gave me to share. It was a message to my heart also as I am going through a lot of struggles in my life. But my faith knows that God ALWAYS works things out for good to those who love him and who put their trust in him. You can’t lose, dear sister, if you have surrendered your life to Christ. I will be praying for you from here on as I pray for all who come to my site. Your feelings of hurt and pain have been allowed for a purpose to strengthen you not weaken you. That’s hard to understand in the midst of a trial but you will see that God was all that you needed when you face a storm. He is faithful to the end and his promises never fail. You are never alone.
