Jesus said to him,”What do you want me to do for you?”
Sometimes it seems like Jesus will never get around to helping you out of your struggle. You have prayed and waited but nothing seems to have changed. Does he even see your pain? Why is it taking so long? You soon feel lost and alone in the darkness of your troubles.
In Mark 10:46, we read about a blind man named Bartimaeus. He lived in Jericho where all he could do was sit on the side of the road and beg for help. But on this one day, he heard the commotion of a crowd coming by. “What could be causing the people to be so excited?” he probably wondered. Someone then told him that it was Jesus of Nazareth who was heading this way.
Bartimaeus must have been overjoyed knowing that Jesus was nearby. I can only imagine how his breath quickened and his pulse raced as hope began to fill his heart! He had heard about this man. Many were made whole and healed of all their diseases by his touch. Some were set free from demons and others brought back to life. All he knew was that he needed to get to Jesus before it was too late. But Bartimaeus was blind and the crowd sounded large. What could he do? He didn’t have his sight, but he did have a voice. He cried out with all that he had, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”. Many people in the crowd rebuked him, telling him to be silent. Silent? That would never happen! The King of kings was near. This blind man had no intention of letting a chance to be touched by the Great Physician just pass him by. He called all the louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” The Scripture then tells us that Jesus stopped and he said to those near to call him up. When Bartimaeus heard this, he threw off his cloak and sprang up and came to Jesus! Jesus asked him,” What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said, “Rabbi, let me see.” And Jesus then told him to go his way saying ” Your faith has made you well”. And immediately, Bartimaeus received his sight and followed him on the way. This day had changed his life. He not only received his sight, but he was forgiven of his sins. All this happened because he believed that Jesus was all that he needed.
My friends, do you feel like you are in darkness as your troubles leave no light of hope? The truth is that if you belong to Christ, he will always find a way to meet you in your struggle and draw you to himself. He will reach through the crowd and take you to a place of healing and peace. Nothing is impossible to him who knew you before you were born.
Never lose sight of the truth that in each battle you face, you are completely surrounded by angels dispatched from God to protect and guide you. Your cries do not go unanswered. He hears your every plea and he cares. The redeemed of the Lord cannot be destroyed by the slings and arrows of the enemy. Every single detail of your life from birth to death has been arranged and made perfect. You cannot fail. The enemy may taunt you with oppression and lies but you are protected by heaven’s royal guard! That is the truth that sets you free. Christ became your burden-bearer when he conquered the world and deprived it of its power to crush you.
Whatever trial you are facing, beloved, remember that it is all under the authority of Christ. Let God accomplish the work that he has begun in you. Whatever time he deems necessary for you to continue in your struggle is specifically designed to equip you for the work he has chosen for your life. It is a royal assignment and not without merit. All those whom God has chosen to do his greatest work have received their power as they patiently trusted him during a time when all hope seemed gone. You must remain steadfast and stand the test in order to receive the crown of life that Jesus has promised to those who love him. You are never alone and never without hope!
Dear Lord, we are living in ending days as the enemy increases his efforts to cause trouble and pain in the lives of your people. Help us to hold on even when we feel weary. I pray for blessings and strength for those who are facing hardships and trials of every kind. I pray for marriages and relationships to be restored. I lift up all those who are facing financial struggles and see no end in sight. I pray for you to help those who are under bondage to addictions and sin issues that are draining them of life. I pray for those who are lonely and brokenhearted. May they feel a very real sense of your presence and love. I pray for those who are being persecuted for their faith. May you give them a sense of peace and joy in the midst of their suffering for you, dear Lord. Protect and bless Israel and her leaders. I pray for the eyes of your people to be opened to the truth of Christ as their Messiah. Lord, may you work all things out for good to those who love you. Show them that you are very near and that you will not fail. To those who do not know you as Lord and Savior, dear Jesus, I pray for you to reveal yourself to them in a very personal way. Help us all to stand in faith as we patiently wait for your return . Give us your strength to fight the good fight and stay in the race. Amen
I am praying for all who come to this site. May you take rest knowing that Christ has a message just for you.

Marianne,
I wrote to you some time back and asked for prayer with my suffering of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As I mentioned in the note that I was horribly raped by many men inside of this child-prostitution ring. Jesus said to me ” What do you want me to do for you? ” I want my childhood back as God meant it to be, loved and care for. I want the Little Gerry inside me to catch up to the Big Gerald I am today. I am suicidal and I have tried many times. I ask Our Father to lift this spirit of suicide from me and to allow a sign that He has done answered my lifetime of prayer. I am feeling so alone at time and I get easily discouraged. I want to know He has answered me. I know Jesus does not want me to suffer any more than I can handle, I have learned empathy for others like me but the pain is too great. In Jesus Christ I place my life and my Trust. Marianne, may I share And Jesus Stopped with my Friends on Facebook?

Hi Gerald, My heart is with you and I do hope that you will share this message with others on facebook.
My brother, the evil that was done to you was an abomination to God. I know that in many ways you lost your childhood during that time. However, Christ has promised that he will heal and restore those who put their trust in him. My brother I am here for you anytime. I have had pain from my childhood that also led me to make many poor choices in my life. I have now surrendered my pain to Christ. He is the only one who can take the broken pieces of my childhood and make use them for my good and to make me stronger than ever. If you can take your pain day by day, Gerald, and give it to Christ, he is going to use you in such a mighty way for his kingdom! You were the victim of unspeakable pain but that pain has no power to destroy you or to steal your future unless you let it! The power of Christ that lives in you is so much bigger than that evil spirit of suicide that taunts you to think that you will never be healed. You will be healed. You will be made whole. And you have a future with promise because that is what Christ died to give to you! You presented your pain and weakness to God now give him the time and submit to his ways of taking you through it. There is victory for you, my brother. I assure you that Christ will be enough to help you through this pain. He has answered you, Gerald! Listen to his still quiet voice that leads you each day. He never leaves you, friend. Never!
My brother, I have told you before that you can email me anytime you want to talk. God has plans for you and he is not going to let you be destroyed. In the message, Bartimaeous thought his chances of ever having a life and having his sight restored were hopelesss. He accepted the fact that he would always have to sit and beg for his needs because he was beyond help. BUT THEN, JESUS SHOWED UP! And then this man was never the same. Be assured, Gerald, Jesus heard and has answered your prayers. He is not going to leave you in your brokenness! Right now, at this very second, his plans are in the works for your victory. He has called you a conqueror. He is going to use you to help so many others who are lost and in pain for suffering in ways similar to yours. You are going to show them that there is way out through Jesus. You are going to share your hope and your story. Please know that you are loved more than you can understand. We live in a dark perishing sinful world but to those whose hope is in the finished work of the cross, all that we face is being used to mold us into the image of Christ.
Don’t give up or give in to the lies of the enemy. You have a future and God has plans for you. Be strong and stay in faith knowing that Christ is always true to his promises. Please keep reading your bible every day. Let his power fill you and give you strength. And know that I care. I am here for you, dear brother, and I am praying for you.

Hi Bola, I am so glad that God brought you here. I will be joining you in prayer for God’s perfect will to unfold in your life. The enemy wants you to give up, dear friend, but you just hang on because God has heard your prayers and he will provide for your needs. God has his timing and his ways but do not think that he has forgotten you. You matter to him. He brought you here so that you could be encouraged with a word he had just for you. I will be praying and you can email me if you ever want to talk. You are not alone. I will be praying for you!

Hi Larry, I am so happy you stopped by. Waiting patiently as you trust God is the greatest act of our faith. We can’t see God or audibly hear him, and we have no idea what his plans are. All that we know is that he has the plan for our lives and it is good. I wrote this from a broken heart as I go through my own trial. Yet Christ is with me. This was a word for me too.
I appreciate your friendship and support, Larry. You are truly a brother in Christ.

I read this and figured you were going through a tough trial. As I wrote the above comment, I saw you being released into your calling. It wasn’t one of those gala send-offs, like a new ship on its maiden voyage, with speeches and champagne toasts, but you were free and doing the will of God. We have to trust that grace covers all loose ends.

Noel
Marianne, a common phrase I read in your posts is “… if you belong to Christ…” What would you say to those who “do not belong to Christ? ” Are they doomed to eternal damnation if they don’t acknowledge Christ as traditional Christians do? Almost half of the world have not heard of Christ, are they also without redemption? Do you say to them “sorry, you have not accepted Christ as your personal savior, therefore your case is hopeless”? Would you try to convert them first, before you give them some hope? I hope this comment does not offend anyone. I am just expressing frustration with how some Christians reflect Jesus’ love to the world. Thank you.

Larry, I needed to hear that. It was what is in my heart also. Thank you for your kindness and obedience to Christ in all that you do!

Noel, the Bible, the infalliable word of God says, “I am the way, the truth, and the light; no man comes to the Father but by Me (Jesus Christ)” If you’re frustrated, Noel, you must go to the Father (God) about this, because Marianne, nor myself, nor any other Christian made this truth…God did. Read these two verses, particularly the last… Is this Mariannes, or any other Christians’ fault?
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:16-18)
Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark 16:14-16)
It’s in the Bible. The Bible is the living word of God.

And i would like to correct my typo above, it says, John 14:6, (I typod and wrote “light”, sorry) Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
September 8, 2012 at 11:12 am
Lyn Leahz
And one other thing I did fail to mention that is very important Noel. When we were all born, we were born to sin. We were not born of God…we were already damned to hell. Jesus came to save us from hell. It is Satan who sends people to hell, not God. God did not make hell for people, he made hell for Satan and his demons; however, wicked Lucifer that he is will come and deceive (for he is the father of lies) and lead people on the path to the lake of fire. PRaise God that He cared enough to save us from hell by sending Jesus Christ to die for us.
September 8, 2012 at 11:20 am
Marianne Lordi
Hi Noel, you know that I am never offended by your questions even if you don’t agree with me or I with you. Yes, the word of God tells us that the ONLY way to the Father is through Christ. Nothing I write is my opinion. I go by God’s word. If you die and you do not have a oneness with Christ, you are headed for destruction. It was Christ who said that most are on the wide road to destruction. He said that small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life and FEW find it. The reason that is so, Noel, is because people believe that they can get to God their way and that to say that Christ is the ONLY way is just intolerant. Call it what you will, but the only way be saved is through Christ alone! I have no power to convert one person, Noel. I can only plant the seed and pray that the Holy Spirit will unveil their eyes to the truth. The reason this world is in such darkness is because people are turning to their own ways and thier own sense of entitlement. Sadly, they are deceived by the lies from the pit of hell. I cannot save anyone. I am praying for the lost. I once was lost. I thought I knew it all too. I am humbled that my eyes were open to the truth. Not my truth, but the truth that is in God’s word alone! As I told you before, Noel, you can do all the good works in the world and die and go to hell if you do not have Christ as your Lord and Savior. We read in Scripture about the rich young ruler who thought like you. He did good things, was nice to people and followed the commandments as best he could. And yet he was unsaved! He could not surrender his ways to Christ. And as I was saying, that is the problem with most of the lost today. They want their own way to get to God. It seems right to them but in the end it leads to destruction. They are building a tower of their own works to get to God and it will never work.
I pray for God to give you understanding on this.

You’re welcome. Many people this day have a hard time understanding these things. I was blessed in that I grew up in a church that was hardcore Bible preaching. Had I not, who knows who or what I be right now..or where I would be. I am always thankful for the Lord; I don’t know what I would do right now in my life if I did not have Him. I would not have the comfort and reassurance I have now, I do know that. God bless you and have a beautiful weekend!

My dear sister, Pat, You are such a blessing to me always. I know how you feel. Jesus said that we would have a lonely life if we followed him because the world hated him and if we follow him, it will hate us too. We are aliens in this world. I will pray for you. Your heart is on fire for Christ and of course you are going to be under attack. Take hope, dear sister, for we are together in the body of Christ and his plan for us will succeed. I love you, my firend.

When I saw your story yesterday, I knew I had to read it. I wrote a similar one awhile back called ‘When Jesus Passes By’. It was from this same encounter.
I make the point to my guys that sometimes Jesus doesn’t stop when we first call and that there are many things to discourage us to give up calling. But for those who keep calling- for those who won’t quit calling – He will stop.
I thought it was interesting that Jesus said, ‘Your faith has made you well’ – I thought it was Jesus’ faith. But to a person who was all but gone, there was still this last little bit of faith that Jesus was what He needed . . . if He would just stop. And so he called and wouldn’t quit calling.
It appears you are helping a lot of people through this site. That is cool.

Hi Mike, I am glad you stopped by. It is always nice to hear from you. Isn’t it amazing to know that Jesus will stop and help us in every single one of our struggles. Sometimes I can only pray, “Jesus, help me!”. Yet no matter what the call, he hears and he answers. He is all that we need.

Peter
My dear sister in Christ, I cannot thank the Holy Spirit of our Heavenly Father who is so powerfully working in you as I get comforted and encouraged by the posts on this blog. I have been living in the UK as an international student from South Korea for the last decade and am now 22 years old man. As a boy, and even now, I make the hearts of my parents and God ache as I make a lot of mistakes and still commit sins that I should repent. Yet, God and my parents waits patiently with love for me. Your posts help me to get over the ‘feeling of guilt’ that bounds me quite often – a tactic of satan indeed-. And your posts inspired by God gives me strength to carry on fighting against the evil forces causing depression and loneliness. Thank you so much.
It would be even more grateful to have your advises in your reply about forgetting the past mistakes and failures that made everyone around me worried and disappointed. They still love me but I am the one who is struggling to get over the conscience-stricken feeling. Thank you dear sister. God bless.

HI Peter, thanks for stopping and commenting. Remember what the Apostle Paul said in Scripture, “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.: (Philippians 3:13-14) That tells you that you are not to look back at your past but look forward to where Christ is taking you. Those who cannot forgive themselves are doing the devil’s work for him! If Christ has forgiven your sin, you must let it go! We are all a work in progress, Peter. If you are truly saved, you may still sin but you should not sin as you did before you were saved. The Holy Spirit works in those who are in Christ and he does a radical work. You have the power to overcome, Peter. The Apostle Paul persecuted Christians! He had to let go of that, forgetting what lies behind. You cannot make the past your god. You must surrender it up and ask for help in living for Christ. I will be praying for you, my brother. Don’t let the devil lead you into depression over your weaknesses. Take the step to give them all to Christ so that he can give you his strength. The devil is the accuser of the brethern. He is always trying to make us feel guilty for things we have repented of. If th4e enemy can keep you feeling overwhelmed with guilt, he can make you ineffective for God’s kingdom. Don’t listen to the enemy’s lies!
I am here to talk to you, Peter. You can email me if you have any questions. I will be praying for you to understand what I have said and to walk in the forgiveness that Jesus died to give you! Don’t let the devil play games with your mind. Leave your sins at the cross and move on! God has work for you to do!

Dear Marianne, by chance God lead me to your blog. As I read through your message, my tears just pour out like running water; I felt God was comforting me with His tears. My wife was suffering from depression in the past, even in the lowest point of our life; I always believed that just hold on to the Lord, our God will take us through and the worst will always pass and God indeed lead us through many ups and downs. But for the pass week I was lost, confused, filled with sorrow, grief and mourned the loss of my wife, she lost her battle this time. Each night I was pray and cries out to God for help and also with so many questions, is she not your beloved daughter? If a plan for me to goes through a trial of hardship to experience You, why is it had to be this way? Surely she is not sacrificed just for my trial? etc… Thank you Marianne, your message put my focus back to God’s trust. How can I say I trust Him and at the same time I ask so many questions? As you reminded, everything is under the authority of Christ. I know I still need God’s healing, and that the road will be hard and long for me as I still have a 7 years old son to care for, but I know God love me and my wife; she is now with our heavenly Father.
Pray that God continue to bless your ministry.

Marianne Lordi
Hi Alan, first of all, let me say that my heart goes out to you for the loss of your beautiful wife. My brother, I can only pray that God will give you strength and healing and that he will bless you and your son.
Alan, it is never easy to lose someone you love. To watch as they suffer through pain can rip your heart out. We don’t understand God’s ways. However, God has a purpose and a plan in everything he does. He allowed your wife to die for a specific eternal reason. As bad as it seems, he will not let you be detroyed by this because you are one of his own. There is nothing that Christ can’t heal you of and this pain in your heart will one day be a reminder of God’s faithfulness. He is going to make you whole again. You are going to see him lift you up and help you stay on the path that he has chosen for you. Remember, we are not in heaven yet. This world is still filled with darkness and evil but Christ is coming back to make all things new. Jesus tells us this much about heaven in Revelation 21:
“Behold the dwelling place of God will be with man. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated ont the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new”
Alan, that is a promise for all of us who have put their trust in Christ. I know it is hard for you right now. I will be praying fro you, dear brother. And you can email me lordi.marianne7@gmail.com if you need to talk. I always have time for a friend. God has the plan, Alan. he is not going to fail you . God bless you and your son. Stay strong.

Hi Marianne and everyone here, I loved this and read it to my elderly aunty today and she was so touched by it she was moved to tears.
I have a general question: how do I know if what I am doing is what God wants me to do? Long story short, I am praying for a husband, one of Gods choice but its so hard to know what I should be doing and not doing and just allowing God to work….. I hope this makes sense. I don’t want to make any more foolish choices but I know God isn’t just going to bring someone to my front door and I know He wants me to be proactive but I just want to do what He wants me to do. Any ideas or guidance would be so appreciated.
God bless

Hi Alison, I am so glad that you read this to your aunt. I always pray that God has a way to get his message to those for whom he gave me the words.
As for your question, when you wait on God, you allow him to lead you to what he wants for you. I am sure you go out places, church, stores, gatherings – well, God knows how to arrange for you to meet the right guy. There is nothing wrong with looking, but be sure you pray and surrender the choice to Christ who knows what is best. If you are praying now for a husband, he will guide your steps to the right path. Be praying also for the one that God is going to bring into your life. Pray for his faith to be strong; pray for him to be protected; pray for decisions he may be making. When you finally meet this right one, you can tell him that your prayers were with him even before you knew who he was. Also, be sure that the one you allow into your life is first of surrendered to Christ. Only then will he respect and love nd respect you as a true man of God should. Alison, God is not going to leave you in the dark. He will guide your steps to meet the husband he has for you. I will be praying for you to have wisdom and discernment and a heart willing to wait upon God. Not only does God have the right man, he also knows the right timing. If you belong to Christ, be assured that God has the plan for you.

Hi Carlene, I am with you in prayer. The word of God tells us to be anxious for nothing but by prayer and petition, and thanksgiving, to present all of our requests to God. And the peace of God which surpasses our human understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. That tells us that his peace will be with us the moment that we surrender it up to him. No matter how hard it gets, my sister, you remember that Christ is always the right portion that you need to succeed and not be destroyed. Never give up and never give in to the lies of the enemy. Whatever you are facing is still under the authority of the God we serve. He is not going to fail you.

Hi Marianne.
When I read the story on blind Bartimaeus and looked at that heart felt picture, I wept for the compassion that I not only saw, but felt in my spirit man. I got a revelation from the Lord that none of us are out of His reach. Regardless of who we are, what our status is, where we are mentally or spiritually, Jesus can reach us.
Blind Bartimaeus story is truly one where the love and compassion of Christ is seen and felt.
Oh, how I love Jesus because He first loved me!
Thanks for being who you are in God and allowing Him to use you in such a mighty way!
God bless and I love you my sister.

I will join you in prayer, Temitayo. Your plans may seem like they are stalled but actually God may have bigger plans for your life than you do. Trust him, dear friend. He knows how to provide for those who trust in him and know that he is bigger than any of your problems. It will work out in the right way. I will be praying for you. Be blessed knowing that the love of Christ is all that you need!

Hi Marianne….I really enjoyed reading this post. Thank you sharing that inspirational message of hope. I sure could identify with many of the trials you mentioned here. It seems like my life has been one big, major trial but, I am not complaining….if everything I go through and have gone through in this life is instrumental in getting me to the Kingdom of Heaven when this life is over and drawing me closer to the Lord while here on earth…then it was truely worth it all.
I found your site through my husband’s blog…Steve with Cry and Howl. I have a blog but I am not an avid poster like he is or others. I pray you have a blessed day. Keep on writing…the Lord has, obviously, blessed you with a talent.

Hi Varina, I am so glad you stopped by. If you are in Christ, we are going to have many trials but the good news is that he is with us in each of them. I will have to visit your blog. I loved Steve’s site as you could tell. He is so right on all that he says. I hope he will write again.
I appreciate your words of encouragement to me. God bless you, also, dear sister. Thank you for blessing me today.

I have done so wrong by borrowing money from family and friends, you see I was in a law suite for wrongful termination, thought for sure I would win, because I signed a check for my mom and had POA, I worked in the same bank for 22 yrs, they never even asked me if I had POA? Just let me go. Now my moms in a rest home and I can’t pay her bills and they are telling me they have to release her and she’s going to be 90 and has dementia? I NEVER intentically meant to hurt anyone. My heart is so broken I feel like I can’t go on. I am a Christian and know God forgives me, but I cannot forgive myself? Its on my mind 24/7, what have I done? Mom took out a reverse mtg. To help me and my daughter, did not know what we were getting into or would have never done this. I feel so terrible……thank you for listening. My God be with you and bless you forever…….joanne.

Hi Melisa, I am so glad that you stopped and received encouragement from the message God gave me to write. I pray that you will hold onto that truth and know that all things have a purpose planned in advance for those who love him. You cannot lose in Christ. He never leaves you and never forsakes your cause. He is all that you need. Don’t focus on your struggles for they have no power to destroy you. Keep your eyes on Christ and stay in his word.
