Those who are with us are more than those who are with them (2 Kings 6:16)
How big does the storm in your life have to get for you to take your eyes off of Christ and put them on your circumstance? Although God may not respond to your prayer the way you thought he should, that surely does not mean that he failed you. Your cries in the night for help are not going unanswered for they are always heard by a God who knows how to provide for your need. He has created a course for your life and the twists and turns you must take are not meant to hinder you but rather to get you ready for something far greater. Scripture is filled with verses where God’s strength is revealed in those who trusted him.
We read in Exodus in the Old Testament where the Israelites were led on a forty-year journey in the desert to get to the land God promised to give them. But because their hearts were hardened and unbelieving, God directed them the long way around. His plan was to give them peace from their enemies and a land that was overflowing with every good thing. However, most of them did nothing but grumble and gripe to God. Their faith was not in God but focused instead on only that which their eyes could see. They did not have faith that God could give them what he promised though every day he provided them with all that they needed. It was for that reason most of them died before they ever got to the land. They thought the giants in the land were bigger than their God! They were dead wrong. Only Joshua and Caleb had faith enough to trust God and they led their people to win over the enemy in the land given them.
In Genesis, Joseph was thrown into a pit by his brothers and then sold into slavery. As dark as it was in that pit, God was using this injustice against Joseph to get him ready to rule in the palace of Egypt! Joseph had to travel as a slave in chains to Egypt. He was sold to a commander there named Potiphar and forced to work in his house. Joseph then was thrown into prison after being falsely accused of a crime. Here is a man who went from the pit, to chains, to slave and then to prison. Where was his God? As painful as it was for Joseph to endure all this, God was using this trial as training. He was equipping this young man to be the top royal commander second only to Pharaoh. That was quite an elevation for just a young shepherd boy.
The truth is that God will not promote you to a higher calling without first equipping you to succeed. The pain that you are experiencing is the chisel God is using to perfect his plan for you. You are literally becoming a work of art in the kingdom of God! Your struggles never had any power to destroy you. God knows well how to cause all things to work in harmony with the purpose he has ordained for you. All of your troubles are unfolding into his perfect plan to bring you to victory. You are not going to lose this battle if you can keep your eyes on Christ and in his mighty power.
Though you can get weary as the pain of your situation overwhelms you, there is hope knowing that there is a divine purpose for your momentary problems. It should help you to know that God saw these stumbling blocks in your path before you were born. He could have led you around them but instead he has chosen to use them to make you stronger as he takes you over and above in strength and glory. His plan is to make you royalty in a kingdom that will never end. It was for this exact purpose that Christ died so that you might have an abundant life even while facing the wind and the waves of the raging sea of life.
My prayer is that you understand that all God allows in your life, he allows for a specific purpose. He will never send you alone in the battle for he is always with you. Nothing can defeat you. Your marriage problems, health issues, financial crisis or any struggle you face cannot keep his purpose for you from being fulfilled. The days remaining in this perishing world are numbered and known by God. He sees the beginning and the end and all that goes on in between. He is with you right now. You must never let the lies of the enemy make you feel defeated. If you are a child of God, that can never happen! Don’t be like the Israelites wandering in the desert who did not have faith that God could take them where he promised. God can and will do abundantly more than anything you can ask or imagine!
Cease striving, my friends, the battle is won. The enemy knows it and you need to know it too. If your trust is in Christ, he already has your situation worked out. All you have left to do is to have faith and take him at his word!
Dear Lord, I pray that those who are facing trials and pain in their lives right now may know that you are working them out for a purpose that is good. Help them to stand in faith through this storm knowing that you are with them to the end. Amen

Marianne – great post. Just the other day, my husband and I were looking back at God’s deliverance. God told us He would “turn things around” but then the path and timing was not at all what we expected! In fact, at times it looked like we were going backwards – it reminded me of Gideon as God told him to make his army smaller and smaller. But now we can see the perfection of His plan and ways for through the journey of deliverance we are refined to be the children He desires. This is a common thing with God. He speaks to your spirit deliverance then takes you on a wild ride to that point. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts.
We can trust God. He is sovereign. When we are truly His we have nothing to fear because His perfect love for us drives out all fear.

Hi Rachel, that was a good way to put it: “He speaks to your spirit deliverance then takes you on a wild ride to that point.” A wild ride indeed! But I guess that anyone who wants to be used for God’s kingdom must know to hold on tight for your life will literally be turned upside down! That cost, however, is more than worth what God has planned for us fo those who remain faithful despite what struggle you are facing.
I wrote this article from an understanding that I am getting from the storm that I am in. You are right that we can trust that God’s perfect love will drive out all fear. Thanks for stopping!

Hi j.d., glad you stopped by! We are dust of the earth so it takes some work for God to transform us into royalty and to be joint heirs with Christ in heaven. I think as long as we can have faith that God knows what he is doing in our lives, we can stand and trust when the storms in our lives come along.
I certainly will lift Joe up for salvation. I lift all my requests that are here each night! And I trust and believe that God is answering!

It is so good to read your words Marianne, and know that there are still those about us who know Jesus; who trust Jesus. A fellow recently confided in me that a relative called him on the telephone, and her call annoyed him. It seems that she retells the same things over and over. I recall that my mother had a tendency to do that. Isn’t it remarkable that Jesus knows every detail of every aspect of our lives, he knows our problems inside out and still he wishes to hear us tell him all those things that he already knows. It reminds me of the man who became so very weary of hearing the plight of a woman that came to him repeatedly. On her last visit, he instructed her, “you need to tell Jesus about your problems.” The lady was overcome with joy at hearing those words. “Yes,” she replied. “I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus.” The minister was so blessed by her joy that he penned the words to that blessed hymn, “I must tell Jesus all of my trouble, I cannot bear these problems alone.” WHEW, IT BLESSES ME JUST TO TALK ABOUT IT; I FEEL HIM EVEN NOW! Thanks Marianne for bringing me once again to this place.

Thank you, Rev. York, you always encourage me when I need it. Jesus does know every detail of our lives and yet nothing pleases him more than when we sit at his feet and talk to him about our struggles. We never have to bear our problems alone. That is what keeps me going!! God bless you, my friend!

So true, j.d.! By the way, I am praying for your brother and father each night. Prayer is where we lay our troubles at the feet of our God who can do all things. I am learning to trust Christ for everything in my life now!

Hi MBASA, How good it is that you stopped by. God had a word just for you and I am happy that you were blessed by it. This message God gave me is a powerful one. Every word is truth and if you can apply it to your life, you will have the victory. A lot of our struggles arise when we fail to remember that God is sovereign over ALL that we go through and he can make the storms in your life cease with just a word! I know you are struggling now, but it won’t be forever. God knows how to take you to victory and he will! I will pray for your marriage and for you to hold on in faith. Each night I bring my prayer requests to God and you will be lifted up to the throne of God’s grace. Prayers do work. Marriages are being attacked at an alarming rate. But our God is still bigger.
Stay in faith and in God’s peace. This battle won’t take you down but will be used to strengthen you. I will be praying for you. Remember also that you are never alone! God has burdened my heart to pray for you, and he will do the same with others. God bless you, dear friend, and stop back.

Glad you stopped by Jan! It seems like you have the truth in your heart so tough times can’t harm you but bring you closer to your God. The battle is won and the enemy knows itl All he can do is try to get you to forget it. That is why I write to keep the message out that we are victors in Christ. Jesus paid the price to put all of our enemies under our feet. In times of struggle, the power of God will always take you through.
God bless you, Jan. I pray that you will stay in peace!

Hi Shiko
So sorry for what you are going through. I am glad that God led you to my site to read this message he gave to me to write. Your diffiuclties are God’s opportunity to reveal more of himself to you. He saw your struggles long before he formed the world and he has a way to help you overcome them. He is with you in your pain and he will not let you fight this battle alone. Remember that you don’t have to feel or see God working to know that he has a plan to help you. Believers know by faith that Christ is true to his word. He said he will help us in ALL things and he will. The thing is that he does it his way and in his time which is always perfect. You can’t see the end of your days but Christ does. He alone knows what is good for you and where he wants to take you. Please read your bible daily to let his strength and guidance fill you for that day. He is your protector and he watches over you.
As difficult as your struggle may be, there is a way through it all. Jesus is the answer and he will not fail those who put their trust in him. I am praying for you nw and I will continue to pray for you. As weary as you feel now, remember that God has a time for this struggle to cease. Trust him. Praise him in the middle of this battle and continue to keep your eyes on Christ. I am here if you need to talk. You can email me anytime. Do doubt and give up. Keep trusting and stay in the battle. You don’t know how close you are to the victory. Be in peace, my friend.
