“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away, blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21)
You can have victory in your life despite the struggles that you face when you understand that God is working all things out for your good and his purpose for your life. Too many times we feel that God is unaware or unconcerned with our painful trials but nothing could be further from the truth. He has a divine eternal reason for each and every thing that you endure. He has a timing for it all and if you belong to Christ, it is all part of the perfect plan.
Understandably, it is easier to trust God when things are going well. How much more difficult is it to believe as God allows unfair trials of every kind to happen when he has the power to stop them. How can he look down on the suffering of his people as seemingly he remains silent. But is that really true?
We look in the Old Testament to the trials of Job. He was a wealthy man with a wife, children and servants. He honored God with all he had and held nothing back from him. Yet God allowed Satan to attack Job and take his children, his wealth, his servants and his own health. Job was reduced to a painful existence living outside of his home since he was deemed unclean because of the infestation of boils that was afflicting his whole body. His own wife told him to ” Curse your God and die”. What did Job say to her remark? He answered, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”(Job 2:10)
That is a questions we all need to ask ourselves. Is it okay with us to take the good from God and then turn away from him in times of trouble? Does God owe us anything? It is by his grace, unmerited favor, that we receive all the good that we have. We are in his hands and he has determined the best way to get us from where we are to where he is. He does not look away from us for a second. We always have hope in the midst of the darkest storms because Christ lives to intercede for us. He commands his angels to guard our path and guide our steps. We are not left to fend for ourselves when darkness comes. With Christ, we have all the hope and peace needed to get through the pain as God works through it to reveal more of himself to us. No battle is too big for him because he has authority over everything. The outcome is always in his hands and his will.
When you grow in faith, you get to a place of victory in your life because you know that you do not have to understand God’s ways in order to trust that he always is working for your best interest. For that reason, you are able to have joy through the many troubles in this world because Christ has overcome the world and your enemies have been rendered powerless to destroy your future. Just because you can’t see how God is working in your life through your trials does not mean that he is doing nothing. Heaven and earth are being moved by a faithful God who has already determined the outcome of your situation.
Your pain grieves the heart of God but we are living in a perishing world and believers are being transformed into the image of Christ. Let God do his work in you. Your struggle will not last forever but the hope you have will last into eternity. Fear and uncertainty are weapons the enemy uses to discourage you. Never let his lies steal your hope or convince you to surrender up your joy. Nothing is impossible for the One who holds eternity in his hands.
Whatever you are going through, stay focused on the fact that God can always make a way to help you. God gives and God takes but it all is part of the plan to give you eternal life in a Kingdom that will have no end. And because of that promise, we can praise God in every situation. Christ is coming back soon to make all things new. That is a Hope that is worth waiting for.
Dear Lord,
You never leave anyone alone to carry their troubles. I pray that you will give hope to those who are overwhelmed with trouble and who feel that they have no strength to go on without your help. I pray that you will heal the pain of those going through marriage problems and financial issues. For those who are suffering through illness and serious health problems, I pray for complete healing, and may you give them peace as they wait on you. I pray for your strength to overcome those who are dealing with addictions of every kind.
May you provide for those who need a job. I pray for favor and blessing on those who are struggling to keep their homes. Bless and heal those who are suffering from mental problems and dementia.
I pray for the persecuted all through the world. May God give them his peace to endure. Protect children everywhere who are hungry and sick. I pray for Saeed Abedini and all those who are imprisoned in other nations for their faith. May God have mercy to bring them home and give them strength to hold on.
I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and protection for Israel. May our Lord guide the hand of their leaders. I pray for America to repent and turn back to God!
For these requests and all those not mentioned, may the power of Christ and his love provide for our needs. Amen

I always believe that we all receive from God and sometime He’s please Him to take thing that it seem important to us, all the trials we have to endure. I feel like, for how long God have to lead us in this shadow? And no one can give answer to this we only have to say thank you and nothing change at all; it make me to think that we are only toy for God, so He have the right to do what it please Him for our good at the end we smile… Oh how deep is his way and his thought

Greetings Marianne,
I thoroughly enjoyed this post. It’s right on time for me and our fellow Christian disciples. We must surely expect to share in Christ’s sufferings, and thus accept the good from God as well as the bad. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but, the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19 PRAISE THE LORD! (Right about now I can hardly wait!) Your prayer was perfect! May the love of God and the sweet communion of His Holy Spirit remain with you now and forever. Stay hopeful, faithful and blessed!
I continue to keep you in my prayers.
Your sister in Christ Jesus,
Gloria

Lukusa, I liked your comment. We don’t always understand the ways of God but one thing we do understand and that is that he is faithful and that he withholds no good from us. That is truth. It may seem like we are sinking under the weight of our problems but the truth is that we are being made stronger in faith. We can never be destroyed by the problems of this world when we belong to Christ. If it takes my suffering to bring him glory, than so be it. The reward will far outweigh the price I have to pay. Also, keep in mind that there is a purpose for all that god allows. Your trial won’t last forever but the reward with Christ will. Take care, my friend. I will keep you in prayer.

You are right that only those in Christ will understand this message because to the world the message of the cross and suffering is foolishness. To believers, the message is the fragrance of life and hope. We take the bad along with the good in this world because believes understand that in all things, God is working to cause them all to be used for our good. We can’t lose. For that purpose we must keep our eyes on Christ and not lose hope. I pray that those who don’t know Christ will have their eyes open to the truth of salvation.
Thanks for stopping by!

It’s so hard to believe all this pain and down times come from God. People who believe in God or don’t will have good and down times. How do we even know his will in it? It must be the persona attitude, you are in charge and have a choice to be happy I’ve learned. Knowing it’s Gods will isn’t the least comforting, knowing the things that go on in this world. I choose to believe in a loving good God, and I choose to believe I am going to be happy and strong, try my hardest and better myself. Life’s too short to be depressed, especially when we see others happy and getting things they want, let alone happiness and being normal.
Right??

Hi Jonathan, thanks for stopping by. Your attitude in your situation is of course very important. As far as bad times, I did not say that they all came from God, however, God is in complete authority over them all! He knows what is going to happen to you and he must allow it for it to happen. That is why Job in Scripture said should we take the good from God and not the bad. He understood that whatever happened in his life that God must have allowed it to happen or else it couldn’t have. When you read Job, you see where Satan had to ask God’s permission to come against Job. God allowed him to do so but said he could not kill Job. God has control over everything. He allows us to face trials for his reasons. Sometimes it is to bring us back from our sin. Sometimes he allows trials to show us his power in overcoming them. Whatever his reason, God is the one in authority. He MUST allow what happens. In fact Scripture tells us that Jesus said that not a sparrow falls to the ground apart from the will of the Father. That means that all things in creation must comply to the will of God. You can choose to believe that you are going to be happy and strong but what do you do if you get a disease that makes you unable to do anything? Do you trust God or do you blame him? You could lose your job and your home. Do you trust God then?
Jonathan, keeping a good attitude is very good but you have to keep that attitude even in trials and storms. The Apostle Paul said he learned to secret to being content whether he was in need or had plenty. He learned that in the good times as well as the bad times that God was working it all out for his good. No one is saying to be depressed here. In fact Jesus said you will have many troubles in this world but to take joy knowing he has overcome the world. You may not have had many major troubles in your life but that does not mean that you won’t. I wrote this knowing many people who are going through terrible pain and heartache and they need to know that even though God is allowing it, he has a purpose and a plan in it all.
I hope you understand that while I agree that you should keep your hope up in life, there will come times when all your positive thinking will not change your circumstance. You need to trust that God will help you through it.

THanks for the reply. I guess I have pride, its too scary for some reason to Trust God in all things. I HOnestly cant be thankful during hard times, and I know there will be even more ahead. Jonathan, when you grow closer to Christ, you naturally become more humble as you understand your sin and yet the love God still has for you. My friend, he does answer you and he never will fail to help you if you seek him. I know you may grow weary when it seems like nothing is changing in your life but the truth is that God is always working in us.
I don’t know what you are going through but I am willing to listen. Please email me again and we can reason through God’s word for the answer. If you are exhausted, my friend, it is only because you are trying to carry your own burdens. I will be praying for you and you can email me when you want to talk.

Hi Paul, It iS a difficult message. I struggled with my doubts for years until I learned to rest in the power of God and his love. Once I decided that God is in complete authority over all that I face and that he always has my best interest at heart, I had peace that surpassed my understanding. I don’t have to know what God is up to just to know that he is up to a divine plan for my good.

Kind greeting Marianne. I ran across this post and would like to give you a brief testimony. This November 8th will be a 3rd year celebration to a catastrophic event the Lord allowed to occur in my family. It was so grievous that my son should have died.
Having passed through the event made us realize that no matter how troublesome the journey gets, our Lord is there, carrying us when we can not go in our own strength.
Having reached HIS accomplished will in our lives, I do not regret the road nor the difficulty, looking back I have learned to embrace it. Not only did everyone in my family grow in His grace, my son that should have died, is living for Him and serving Him with his whole being.
Our God is faithful and merciful. His grace is sufficient for what ever He sends our way.
Rich blessings as you continue to post for His glory.

Brother Malachi, it is such a pleasure to hear from you again. I am so sorry for what your family endured but you know as well as I do that God has a purpose and plan for every single trial believers go through. That purpose is divine and deliberate. He knows what he is going to extract from you in order to bring you closer to him. I am so happy to hear that your son is now living for Christ! Praise God for his mercies! I pray that you continue to grow in grace and strength as we face the darkness of these ending times. God’s people cannot be destroyed. We can only be made renewed and stronger fro having gone through the battles of this world.
My brother, I value your friendship and I pray that God opens many doors of opportunity for you to continue to do his work. You have always been an inspiration to me.
God bless you, Brother Malachi. Stay in peace.

It’s obvious you have endured hardship in a faithful manner … something which provides you such a powerful testimony. I enjoy your site very much and have read many of your postings on dealing with fear in the midst of overwhelming trials. I continue to face the loss of my business and fear and worry too often plague my thoughts. God blessed me with the business and He blessed us with many years of great success. Obviously, I know He gave it to me so He can certainly take it away. In fact, for twenty something years I would pray “Everything we’ve been, are today and ever will be is by your grace alone Lord”. And I truly believed those words … or so I thought. However, now that it appears I will lose the business and much of my life savings, I’m not acting or feeling like someone who truly understood my own prayers. It’s so easy to say or to even believe everything we have is His until we’re actually faced with Him repossessing the gift. That’s true whether it’s our health, our marriage, our family, our home, our business, etc.
I’m so disappointed with myself in the manner I’ve responded … and my apparent unwillingness to accept the bad with the good. I truly felt like a more mature Christian having personally experienced God having carried me through many other difficult losses and tragedies in my life. Yet, so far I’ve been unable to fully trust He will do so again … to simply put into practice what I had previously learned. So on the one hand I’m overwhelmed with fear, worry and doubt and on the other hand I’m frustrated by my lack of spiritual maturity and trust in Christ. Thus His peace escapes me and like the Psalmist I too wish I had the wings of a dove so I could fly away to shelter. Of course, I realize Satan attacks us with lies … but when those lies contain truths embedded within it’s difficult to discern one from the other. I so want to glorify God in how I handle this situation but so far I’ responding as one of the ye of little faith. At any rate, I will keep reading Scripture, keep reading what others like you have written, keep praying and keep taking the next step.

Hi Gene, You just gave a wonderful testimony even though you are being a little hard on yourself. My friend, the fact that you desire to have more faith and hate the fact that at times you fail to trust God as you should shows that you are growing in Christ. Did not the Apostle Paul also lament the fact that he still did those things that he hated? We all have weaknesses and at times fall prey to our fears. The Spirit of God is not finished with you yet. He is still doing his work in you and through you and I can see clearly that you are truly seeking the the ways of Christ.
My struggles have all brought me to a place of surrender. It was only when I saw my weakness and realized that I did not have the power to change or to do what was right was when I would draw nearer to Christ and learn to trust him. That was something I had trouble doing all my life. It seemed that everyone had let me down so it was hard for me to trust that God would not do the same. He had to show me, Gene! He had to allow me to go through times of great pain and suffering so that I could see and trust HIS power and not my own. I will admit that I do not like the bad times. I don’t think anyone really does. But during those times of trial, and they are rough, I take comfort and even joy knowing that God is up to something good in my life. He is putting me through the furnace so to burn off the self-righteousness I still cling to. It is a good thing and it is for an eternal reason. I don’t fully understand God’s ways but by faith, I trust in his ways. He has taken me too far for me to give up now.
As for your business not doing well, I only know one thing. Whatever is good and right for you, God will give to you. If keeping your business is good, no one and nothing can stop you from having it. If for some reason, unknown now to you, that business is not good and will be detrimental in some way to you, then let him take it. What about your bills? He will help you. That sounds so simplistic but it is truth. While God does not always do things our ways, he always does things in the perfect way. He has a plan, my friend. He has your future secured. He has a purpose for you to still be alive right now. And nothing, not even the gates of hell can stop him from fulfilling what he created you to be. You belong to him. He has your whole life covered. His angels are with you and your family and are doing his bidding to guide and protect you. You can’t get better than that.
I want you to know that I will be praying for you, Gene. I know that fear you speak of. But I must tell you that your faith has encouraged me today! Your understanding of what is going on speaks volumes of your faith. You may feel weak and fearful but I have no doubt as to who you trust! Keep reading your bible and drawing strength from what God speaks to your heart as you read. Keep your eyes up. You don’t have to know how God is going to win this battle you are in. You only have to trust that he will. He will not fail you, Gene. He has taken you too far and paid too great a price for you to have you be destroyed by this trouble in your life.
Be in peace, my friend. You are not alone to fight this battle. And I assure you that you have already been declared the victor!

Thank you Marianne … for your kind words of encouragement and for you taking the time to not only respond but to also pray for me. You and your blog are and have been a blessing to me and I’m certain to many others as well. I pray God will continue to bless you with wisdom and that He will quickly carry you through the difficulties you’re facing.

Thank you, Gene. I appreciate your timely words. God is doing his work in those who belong to him. Keep the faith when it seems all hope is lost. Because Christ lives to intercede for us, we know that we always have reason to hope in our troubles. We know that Christ has measured every trial that he allows us to endure. He has a reason even when we can’t see it. He is coming back soon and he knows those who truly trust in him.
You can email me anytime you need to talk. I am here for you, my friend. And my prayers for you and all those here are being laid at the feet of Christ. He hears our cries. He cares and he is not going to fail us ever!
