It all comes down to where you put your trust
The promises of God are real and he has a way to work all things in your life for good. He knows what it takes to rescue you from the pain and the struggles of this earth and how to make you stronger for having endured them. He can do all things for he is the Creator of all that is on this earth and the heavens. Nothing is impossible for the Lord. With the knowledge that God ‘s love is enough, why do we still worry and fret when trouble comes upon us?
Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 6:25-27, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
You are so valuable to God that he gave his only Son to suffer and die for you that you may have everlasting life! There is nothing that he will allow to destroy those who belong to him, so to give in to worry and doubt is sin.
The truth in this verse is that when you worry, you are making your problems bigger than your God. You are saying in effect that God is not strong enough or loving enough to help you through your trial. When you give in to worry and fear, you are falling for the lies of the enemy who wants to destroy you. He knows that God is more than enough to bring you to victory but he wants you to forget that. We serve a risen Savior who came to this earth to bring us hope and to give us a future despite what we may have to endure. He knew our problems and weaknesses long before we were born and he made a way to overcome all of them. He has a perfect plan and a purpose for your life. Even though you may have fallen short and rebelled against him, he can always lift you from your past and restore you to wholeness.
All that it takes is for you to allow Christ to reign in your life. You must make him first over all that you have. In order for him to help you through the bondages that have kept you prisoner for so long, you need to trust him completely. You must never take your eyes off Christ and put them on your problems. Only then will you fall. Jesus is always bigger and stronger than anything the world throws at you. You cannot be defeated for he has destroyed the power of the enemy. Even death no longer holds fear for those who are in Christ for we will not perish but be made whole to live in heaven with God. There is nothing that man can do to you that will crush you for you are protected by the right hand of the King!
When you find yourself worrying and getting anxious about things that are going on in your life, seek Christ out in his word. Let him fill you with peace as you read of his faithful promises to you. Giving in to fear indicates a lack of faith. You must trust that the One who gave you life will be able to sustain you no matter what happens! Jesus died to release you from the prison of fear and worry. Don’t go back into bondage when Jesus paid your bail in full. His blood at Calvary covered your iniquities and made you righteous before God. That is the power you need to cling to and to use when you are weak and weary. Take the yoke of Christ for he will lift your burden and give you the strength you need to continue.
There is always hope when your trust is in Christ. He is the Lifter of your head and the Restorer of things taken from you. He can mend your heartache and bring your family together. He has the power to provide for your financial needs no matter how impossible it seems. He can heal your sickness and break the chains of your addictions. Most importantly, he can give you the force to conquer any battle you must fight. He knows your name. He has numbered your days. His promise is to never leave you or fail to give you all that you need. Give him your worry and anxious thoughts and let him bring you to a place of peace. No matter where you are in your life, Jesus has a way to reach you!
Dear Lord, I pray that you will touch all those who read this message and give them peace in the trouble they are experiencing in their lives. Help them to know that you are with them and that you are bigger than their problem. Give them the strength to walk in faith and not lose sight of the victory that you have given us. Amen

Hi! Thanks for the encouraging words! Focusing on the Lord, His faithfulness and trustworthiness, is the only security and hope we have! I have to speak to myself DAILY about this, because my mind so easily slips to fear and worry. And moreso, now that we have a family member stricken with cancer. That disease, in particular, seems to lurk in my mind now all the time, saying, “what if”, “when”, etc.
But just this morning the Lord, His word, and your post (!) spoke back to those dark whisperings, saying “Trust in Me. Can you add one day to your life? I know your days, from beginning to end. I will never leave you or forsake you. Peace I give to you.”
Thank you Lord for such Hope and assurance!!
Blessings, Linda

Hi Linda, I am so glad that God is helping you to trust him no matter what the circumstance. Why would we worry about things that God has a plan to take us through? Worry is just the voice of the enemy trying to convince us that God will not help us. That is a lie! We need to walk in the truth. I know you are a woman of faith and you trust the God we serve. He will work all things out. I have prayed for your family member with cancer. Even in this, God has a plan. God bless you, Linda.

Well, you did again. You hit another one right out of the park with this great devotional thought.
If Christians are not careful, they can find themselves losing out own one of the greatest blessings of their salvation. In a world where many people are worried, frantic, panic-stricken, or just plain distraught, Christ Jesus tells His followers, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
The peace that Jesus gives to Christians is “not as” the counterfeit peace which the world advertises. A worldly peace is completely dependent upon external circumstances, and, ultimately, the evil designs of our worst enemy. “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” Satan himself is the prince of this current world system, so it is not surprising that he has “rigged the game,” in order to rob Christians of their peace and confidence.
The Lord provided a good example for His disciples, for, in Jesus’s earthly life, Satan was never able to obtain a foothold (“hath nothing in me”). Christians should strive to remember that the Lord has left His Spirit with them. The Holy Ghost will produce a peace in the lives of Christians that does not flee in the face of troubles. In fact, trials and struggles only strengthen and nourish the peace of Spirit-filled Christians.

Thank you, Ministry Addict, for your comments and Scriptures that exactly fit with this message. Your reminder of John 14 where Jesus tells us not to let our hearts be troubled is what we need to keep in our heart when fear and anxious thoughts surround us. Jesus knew he had the way out and around every trial and crisis we endure. All we have to do is trust him. Nothing in this world and beyond is stronger than the power of our God!
I appreciate you stopping by. I visit your site frequently. I guess I will see you at The Deep End!

“You must never take your eyes off Christ and put them on your problems. Only then will you fall.”
————
I like how you put this Marianne. This reminded me of a story that Dallas Cowboys’ coach Jimmy Johnson related about preparing his team for the Super Bowl. Johnson said, “I told them that if I laid a two-by-four across the room, everybody there would walk across it and not fall, because our focus would be that we were going to walk that two-by-four. But if put that same two-by-four 10 stories high between two buildings, only a few would make it, because the focus would be on falling. Focus is everything.”
On a much different scale, when we let worry and fear enter into our life, the focus becomes our problems and not Christ. We start looking down and around, instead of looking up. It’s a trap that can be easy for us to fall into. Thank you for this inspiring devotional today and the reminder on where to keep our focus !
Blessings to you Marianne –

Hi Joe, thanks for the comment and for stopping by! That analogy you gave is so right on. When we can do something by ourselves, there is no fear. But when it is a difficult situation where we must trust God to take us through, all of a sudden we get anxious. How sad is that? It is God who has planned our lives out and yet we still can’t seem to trust him.

I came to this post almost as soon as you had it finished, Marianne. I enjoyed reading it and found encouragement. I simply could not think of a thing that I considered worthy to write nor to respond; I was just empty! Thanks for being there for us and for helping us to see the way.
Please forgive me for the times that I visit and fail to make my presence known.

Hi Rev. York, I consider it an honor that you visit this site. You do not need to respond every time. I am always grateful when God gives me a message to write. In every case I am challenged on what I write so I take it seriously. I appreciate the counsel that you give me and I am so enlightened and encouraged by all of the messages on your site.
You are a blessing and I hope that God continues to work in you!!
